Woodbrook College
Over the course of a six weeks, myself and a fellow student teacher team taught two 2nd year classes and held a portfolio preparation course for the senior cycle.
With the 2nd year classes we explored tone and texture to create a mixed media painting using elements of embroidery based on a still life with the theme "My Life".
For the portfolio course we created a series of 2D & 3D forms of organic shapes through a series of artistic processes under the theme "Inside Out".
St. Patrick's GNS
During my time at St. Patrick's Girls National School, I team-taught one unit of learning to 3rd class over a period of a month. The aim of this unit was to create the feeling of belonging within the students, starting with the self and expanding to the wider world.
The students created through a series of media such as styrofoam printing, clay relief, and stop motion to explore the meaning of belonging.

Fabric & Fibre Workshop
Myself and a colleague held multiple fabric & fibre workshops in a primary school where we looked at sustainability with the students.
We used recycled t-shirts and food dye to upcycle the t-shirts into tie-dye tops.
Theatre Workshop
I lead the set and costume design during a week long theatre production module with transition year students.
We created set designs and costumes for two plays; Mamma Mia, and Singing in the Rain.

"The teacher is of course an artist, but being an artist does not mean that he or she can make the profile, can shape the students. What the educator does in teaching is to make it possible for the students to become themselves."
- Paulo Freire
